Nephrology I: Foundation of Clinical Nephrology

This course provides a focused refresher on core nephrology topics for fourth-year medical students. It covers the clinical approach to acute kidney injury (AKI), common glomerular diseases, and the interpretation of electrolyte and acid–base disorders.

1. Learners will be able to diagnose, analyze the causes, and assess the severity of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

2. Learners will be able to differentiate patients with glomerular disease from those with other types of kidney diseases.

3. Learners will understand the approach to the differential diagnosis of dysnatremia, dyskalemia, and common acid-base disorders, and be able to select appropriate laboratory investigations.
