At the end of the course, participants should be able to describe?

• Roles and responsibilities: first author, corresponding author, last/senior author

• Publication ethics: plagiarism, duplicate/redundant publication, data fabrication and falsification, conflict-of-interest disclosure

• Determine authorship eligibility using the ICMJE’s four criteria

• Distinguish the roles and responsibilities of first, corresponding, and last author

• Identify common publication-ethics issues: duplicate publication, plagiarism, data fabrication/falsification, undisclosed conflicts of interest

• Describe the peer-review process and how publication metrics reflect research impact
